Lotte Duncan
Lotte is a skilled and highly experienced broadcaster. Recognised as a leading authority on English cooking, Lotte approaches all television presenting with a light, humorous touch. But don’t let that fool you - she speaks with authority and intelligence too!
Most recently Lotte’s television appearances have included BBC’s Countryfile: Summer Diaries and Castle in the Country as well as ITV1’s Heart of the Country and Five’s Cooking the Books. She was also a regular presenter and chef on UKTV Food’s Great Food Live. On all shows, Lotte presented quirky and interesting stories and cookery items from studio and around the regions.
In 2005, Lotte starred in ITV1’s Dial a Mum. She was one of four fantastic mums who transformed a member of the public’s life in more ways than one. Concentrating on household management and food, Lotte gently encouraged contributors to live a healthier lifestyle by cooking good food. She also helped people to make their lives more organized and calm by making sure their homes were places they wanted to be in.
Lotte started out on television by presenting three of her own series - Simply Puddings, Feast Days and Holidays and Quick Cooks on Carlton. Guest appearances also include Channel 4’s The Richard and Judy Show, Ready Steady Cook, Battle of the Chefs, Channel 5’s Open House with Gloria Hunniford, Quick Cooks, Eastenders Revisited, BBC1’s Value for Money, Animal Park, Club Vegetarian, Ideal Home Cooks with Nanette Newman, and Kate Humble’s Webwise programme, where she told the world a thing or two about Tudor food.
She has recently started her own blog entitled Kitchen Chronicles. Her first book, Lotte’s Country Kitchen will be published by Absolute in Spring 2010.
Her love of cooking was apparent at an early age, when she went through to the finals of Junior Cook of the Year. She then left her Cordon Bleu school with distinctions – and worked in Switzerland before opening a diner in Los Angeles. On returning to England, Lotte began her television career before opening her own cookery school which she runs from her home in Buckinghamshire.
As well as her cookery school and media work, Lotte guest edits Prestige Cookware’s EDL (Eat Drink Live) magazine which is distributed to 100, 000 of its customers on a quarterly basis. Lotte also demonstrates at various food shows including BBCGood Food Shows and Marks &Spencer road shows. She has presented awards for the WRVS, ‘Britain’s Most CaringPerson’ and continues to support this cause. She has held cookery demonstrations and talks for charities, The National Trust and many other organisations.
Lotte is a trustee for The Hope Foundation. An Irish charity formed in 1999 to help the street children on Kolkata. Now registered in the UK, Lotte is part of the Events committee organizing the annual fund raising events.
